Outreach Activity at the Futures Unlimited Workshop

Prof. Kadkhodaei, Ali Davariashtiyani, and Seyyedfariddodin Fattahpour demonstrated an experiment on December 15 2022 at the Futures Unlimited Workshop. Organized by the Oakton Community Colleges the Futures workshop brought together more than 800 gender-expansive middle-school students and girls in the Chicagoland area. The aim of the workshop is to promote the STEM field among young students and minorities in the field.
Our presentation topic was "Heat Treatment of Bobby Pins". We demonstrated how different heat treatments of bobby pins lead to different behaviors under loading. Students experimented with different bobby pins to examine their differences.
